We are so grateful for our November Volunteer of the Month: Brendan Timmerman!
Brendan has spent over 700 hours since January 2019 with the Marine Mammals department. From assisting with training to keeping a fine attention to detail, Brendan has proven himself to be an exceptional member of the Marine Mammals team. It is thanks to dedicated and focused volunteers like Brendan that the aquarium is such a fantastic place to work and volunteer.
Brendan’s supervisor, Kim Cummings, writes:
Brendan started in our department as an intern and quickly proved himself invaluable! After his internship we convinced him to stick around as a volunteer because we really cannot imagine the week without him . . . Brendan’s attention to detail is unmatched. For example if a trainer asks him to make a subtle change to the way an animals diet is prepared due to the behavior they are training that session, Brendan will remember that information and the next time the trainer is doing that same behavior, he will check in with them to see if they want the animals diet adjusted like they did before. This kind of follow through and communication is unique to Brendan and highly admired and respected. These rare and wonderful traits make Brendan an exceptional volunteer in the mammals department.
Thank you, Brendan, for all of your hard work, and thank you to all of our supervisors for nominating volunteers!
