Congratulations to our January 2019 Volunteer of the Month: Erinn Hasselgren!
Starting in May of 2013, Erinn has been volunteering for Rescue & Rehabilitation for over five years, donating about 2,000 hours of her time! She spends her days in one of our fastest paced environments. Erin’s tasks include preparing animal diets, cleaning/disinfecting/maintaining pristine working environments, managing data, measurements and recording information, and careful observing animals for changes in their health and behavior. You can always count on her to take on whatever tasks is needed. Erinn is a paragon of service and you can be sure will continue tovolunteer with a happy and positive outlook. Nicole Hunter, Erinn’s supervisor, showed why Erinn truly deserved volunteer of the month when she wrote:
“Erinn Hasselgren has been with the Rescue and Rehabilitation department since May of 2013. During that time, she has become a strong, confident and reliable member of the team. Erinn is a leader among the Saturday crew, going above and beyond the normal tasks required. Erinn is exceptional at training new volunteers, interns, and Turtle Emergency Response Volunteers. Her knowledge and patience is clearly demonstrated when she teaches others how to complete the task at hand and answers any questions that may arise. Erinn’s dedication to the program is unwavering and dependable, always willing to come in to help with a turtle transport at 3:00 am or to venture out into the field to assist with a seal response. Beyond her hard work and dedication, Erinn’s most distinctive trait is her ability to make everyone around her laugh. Throughout the busy sea turtle cold stunning season, Erinn always remains optimistic and encouraging. Her ability to bring a smile to the faces of others is what sets her apart. Her laugh is contagious. She is always ready with a funny story to make others feel welcome. Erinn is an irreplaceable member of the Saturday team. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing person on our team to inspire us every week!”
Congratulations again to Erinn Hasselgren on her stellar service and commitment to our mission of “protecting the blue planet.”
