Starting in October of 2013, Carol has been volunteering for Visitor Education for over five years, donating more than 1000 hours of her time! She spends her days answering questions from aquarium visitors and serves as an excellent ambassador to the aquarium. From marine science to environmental issues, Carol has got you covered! You can always ask her to take on whatever you need and she will gladly volunteer with a happy, positive outlook. If you happen to visit the aquarium on a Saturday, make sure you look out for Carol and ask her a few questions. Allison Onofrio, Carol’s supervisor, showed why Carol truly deserved volunteer of the month when she wrote:
“Carol has been a volunteer here at the NEAq for 5 years, and she is a joy to have on Saturdays. She is a reliable volunteer that I can count on to help with anything, whether it is a Live Animal Presentation, mentoring her fellow volunteers, or picking up an extra touch tank shift. No matter how busy or hectic Saturdays can get on the floor, you can always count on Carol to dive into the day with a smile and a positive attitude. This attitude rubs off on her fellow volunteers and creates a cultivating, positive environment for everyone to learn. Thank you, Carol, for all you do to help make Saturdays a great day for visitors and Aquarium staff, volunteers, and interns alike!”
Congratulations again to Carol DePetrillo on her stellar service and commitment to our mission of “protecting the blue planet.”
