Congratulations to our August 2018 Volunteer of the Month: Amanda Claussen!
Amanda has been volunteering since December 2016. She makes the lives of those working in the Animal Medical Center so much easier with her initiative to assist in everything without hesitation. This center consists of a hospital ward for sick or injured animals, a surgical suite, radiography room, pharmacy, diagnostic lab, environmental quality lab, and necropsy facility. These kinds of services could not run smoothly without the assistance of volunteers like Amanda. She is someone that you can rely on and look forward to seeing every Friday. Her passion and positive attitude towards animal welfare enables her to be a crucial and well-loved team member. It is because of these qualities that Amanda is well deserving of the Volunteer of the Month recognition. Kerry McNally, Amanda’s supervisor, was happy to add the following about her experience working with her:
“Amanda is a volunteer who takes initiative, doing tasks that are beyond what is required of her without be asked to do any of it. Some things would probably never get done if it wasn’t for her hard work and enthusiasm. She makes supervising her easy, since I can always trust that she will get things done but will ask questions when appropriate. Amanda makes her volunteer time a learning experience, from the time she gets in the morning walking around the quiet aquarium taking in all of the animals before her shift starts to investigating anatomy or specific things about a particular species that sparks her curiosity. I learn from her probably as much as she learns from me. It is always a pleasure working with Amanda especially with her dedication to the aquarium over the past year.”
Congratulations to Amanda Claussen on her stellar service and commitment to our mission of “protecting the blue planet.”
